HIGHLANDS FAMOUS CLAMFEST
FOUR DAYS OF FAMILY FUN AND SUCCULENT SEAFOOD

HIGHLANDS, N.J. Ð Discover the true meaning of ÒSucculent SeafoodÓ at the Highlands Business PartnershipÕs 18th Annual Clamfest. The Festival is open August 2nd Ð 5th at Huddy Park on Bay & Waterwitch Avenues. The Clam Festival is a four-day action packed event featuring the freshest seafood, live entertainment, kiddy rides, games, contests, a beer and wine garden and more. Admission and parking is free, and the event takes place rain or shine. The 17th Annual Clam Fest will feature a Beer and Wine Garden on the corner of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues sponsored by Shore Point Distributor. You may also visit the VFWÕs own beer garden in the rear of the post on Central and Bay.

The kiddy rides will be set up by NJ Partyworks & SammyÕs Amusements. Portions of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues will be closed to street traffic to accommodate the specialty vendorÕs marketplace and the succulent food court with many popular HighlandÕs restaurants such as Bahrs, Chilangos, Clam Hut, FrancescoÕs, Lusty Lobster, and MobyÕs. These include clams Ð fried, stuffed, steamed or on the half shell Ð and soft shell crab sandwiches, shrimp, oysters, crab cakes, lobsters, scallops, chowders, fish tacos, mussels and much more. Other festival favorites such as sausage and peppers, cheese steaks, BBQ and more will be provided by outside food vendors and at the HFD tent. There will be plenty of novelty foods such as the Lions Club Funnel Cakes, Fruit Smoothies, Ice Cream, Cookies and much more. On Thursday, August 4th, the fun takes place from 6:00 to 11:00 PM. Opening night is ÒFamily Bracelet Night,Ó when visitors can enjoy the amusement rides all night with a $20 bracelet purchase valid from 6:00 pm until closing and Round the House Band will perform. Clamfest hours are 6:00 to 11:00 PM on Friday, August 5th, with entertainment by Steel Rail Blues from 7-11PM.

On Saturday, August 6th, the festival begins at noon, with the Highlands Community Singers featuring their hit, ÒHappy As A ClamÓ; the Mary McCrink Band takes the stage from 1:00 Ð 3:00 PM. Back by popular demand are the Jonzes, this versatile & talented 5-piece cover band play from 4:00 Ð 7:00 PM, with a constantly expanding repertoire of over 140 songs spanning a variety of genres ranging from modern to classic rock, slow dances to heavy metal, 80s anthems to timeless pop, dance, R&B & reggae hits, and more. The Spotlight Band will be performing from 7:00 Ð 11:00. Spotlight is a local band performing rock and roll and oldies. They are the cover band for Vito Picone & the Elegants as well as Rick Alviti's Tribute to Elvis Clamfest hours on Sunday, August 8th, are noon to 8:00 PM. The Kootz Band will perform from 12:00 Ð 3:00 PM. The popular BABY COSTUME CONTEST, ÒA Day at the ShoreÓ directed by Tim Hill, the BoroughÕs Director of Recreation takes place at 1:00 pm on Sunday in Huddy Park. The ClamfestÕs world-class CLAM-SHUCKING COMPETITION kicks off at 3:00 PM sponsored by Lusty Lobster and has a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizewinner to the person who finishes shucking their Clams first. The rapidly growing ALL YOU CAN EAT CLAM CONTEST sponsored by Certified Clam Company will begin promptly at 3:30 pm. This is also a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize contest to the person who can eat the most clams from their bucket in five (5) minutes. The ALL YOU CAN EAT CLAM CONTEST will be limited to twenty entries. Registration for ALL Contests begins at Noon. At 4:00, the Bob Burger Band will perform. Known as the Jersey Shore's best-kept secret, Bob Burger is a rock-solid musician performing classics and to date has about 40 published songs to his credit. Bob earned a Gold Record award for the Styx Edge of the Century CD.
